Hi Reader,

I want to share something deeply personal with you today.

For much of my life, I lived with pain that didn’t make sense. My body functioned—but only partially. The entire left side felt... disconnected. I didn’t know why. I just knew something wasn’t right.

After my recent back surgery, I began to uncover the truth. I was dealing with a trapped nerve and severe nerve damage—but that wasn’t all.

I’d experienced emotional, physical, and sexual abuse in the early years of my life. I had done all the therapies—hypnosis, mindset work, trauma counseling. You name it. And I am so much better for it! I thought I had moved on. But my body hadn’t fully yet.

Our bodies don’t forget. They adapt. They protect. They store the unspoken.

I’ve been pushing hard at the gym, determined to regain my strength post-surgery and heal the nerve damage. But my body didn’t need more pushing.

It needed something I’d never learned:

Real rest. Learn to be in a complete parasympathetic state.

Even when I thought I was relaxing, my nervous system was always on high alert.

It wasn’t until I experienced neuromuscular therapy and craniosacral work that something finally shifted. My body softened. My nervous system let go. I realized:

Sometimes the healing doesn’t come from doing more—it comes from listening deeper for what I need.

We often look for answers in supplements, scans, and new diagnoses. But what if the real answer… is to finally feel safe enough to release what’s been held inside?

Weekly Live Well Simple Shift

Each week, I share one simple but impactful change to implement in your daily life that is transformative over time. No overwhelm—just proven shifts that bring you closer to living well.

So, here we go. For this week, make this one shift:

5 minutes Sit & Release: give your body a voice:

  1. Go to a quiet spot where you feel safe.
  2. No phone. No talking. No distractions.
  3. Sit with pen and paper.
  4. Gently ask:
    • What am I feeling in my body?
    • What thoughts or emotions are surfacing?
    • What do I need?

You don't have to solve anything. You don't have to write anything profound. Just notice. Let your body speak. Sometimes, that's all it's been waiting for.

Why this matters: This is where healing begins. Not in doing more — but in listening more deeply. This is why my Live Well method has a full chapter on the inner environment. Because your body holds your story. And when you give it space to be heard, you create the space for everything else to change — your sleep, your food choices, your energy, your pain.

Extra Support

If you're looking for professional help with trauma, remember that many psychologists don't receive specialized trauma training in their standard education. For deeper healing, look for therapists trained in these specific modalities:

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS)
  • Compassionate Inquiry
  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
  • Somatic Experiencing work developed by Peter Levine

Just like in my teaching, a headache is a symptom, and in trauma, behavior is a symptom!

We must inquire about the root cause, NOT treat the symptoms! That only delays the healing and can create more harm!

These modalities support healing at the nervous system level because true healing doesn’t happen by talking about your body but by listening to it.
